Five Year Warranty

We’re so confident in the quality and reliability of our cars that, as part of our Five Year Triple Care package, we offer a five year, fully transferable, unlimited mileage warranty* across the entire passenger car range (excluding Light Commercial Vehicles and cars for taxi or private hire usage). And, for further peace of mind, our Five Year Triple Care package also includes five years roadside assistance programme, five years annual vehicle healthchecks and a ten or twelve year anti perforation warranty.

Passenger Cars

Hyundai cars are manufactured using the latest materials and engineering technology. To demonstrate our confidence in our product, we offer a Five Year Triple Care package on all Hyundai passenger cars not used for hire or reward or commercial use.

The key components of the Five Year Triple Care package are as follows:

  • A manufacturer backed, unlimited mileage, Five Year Warranty which protects against manufacturing defect**
  • Five year’s Roadside Assistance Programme.
  • Five Years AnnualVehicle Healthchecks
  • A ten or twelve year Anti Perforation Warranty against perforation of the bodywork from the inside of the panel outwards***.

* Vehicles used for taxi or private hire uses are covered by a five year, 100,000 mile warranty. Warranty cover excludes fair wear and tear.

** The Five Year Triple Care Package is not available on passenger cars used for hire, reward or commercial use. Refer to sections below for full warranty terms and exclusions.

Light Commercial Vehicles

Hyundai light commercial vehicles are manufactured using the latest materials and engineering technology. To demonstrate our confidence in our product, we offer a five year, 100,000 mile warranty on all Hyundai light commercial vehicles.

The key components of the warranty are as follows:

For new vehicles supplied by Hyundai Motor UK Ltd, Hyundai Motor Company warrants the vehicle, from the date of first registration, against defects arising in manufacture, subject to the conditions outlined on the Limited Coverage page, for a period of five years’ unlimited mileage on passenger cars or 100,000 miles for Light Commercial Vehicles. The warranty also comprises our Roadside Assistance Programme. For more information, please refer to the Warranty Scope.

Please note: it is important that you familiarise yourself with the requirements regarding routine maintenance servicing and repairs in order to fully benefit from the above. Please refer to the Maintenance and Servicing page for more details.

As part of the Five Year Triple Care package, our Roadside Assistance Programme provides fives years of free, 24-hour roadside assistance should your car break down anywhere in the UK or Channel Islands.

The benefits are subject to the following terms and conditions:

  • The vehicle must be covered under the new vehicle warranty, and have been maintained in accordance with the routine maintenance service schedule, using genuine Hyundai parts.
  • Arrangements for any assistance provision must be made through the Roadside Assistance provider. No benefits or reimbursement will be available if arrangements for assistance provision are made any other way.
  • Where the vehicle breakdown is away from home and the recovery operator deems recovery of a vehicle necessary, only one journey from the point of breakdown to the nearest Hyundai Dealer, or onward destination, will be provided. Further recovery of any kind will not be available.
  • Where the vehicle breakdown is at home and the recovery operator deems recovery of a vehicle necessary, only one journey from the point of breakdown to the nearest Hyundai Dealer will be provided.
  • “Breakdown” is defined as electrical or mechanical failure causing the vehicle to be immobilised. The failure of ancillary components which do not result in actual immobilisation of the vehicle are excluded.
  • “Accident” is defined as collision between the vehicle and another object, whilst on a categorised public road rendering the vehicle immobile. If the vehicle becomes immobilised due to accident within the United Kingdom or the Channel Isles, the Roadside Assistance provider will arrange for, but not pay for, recovery of the vehicle to a place of storage.
  • Roadside Assistance Programme is only available in the case of caravans and trailers where the need for assistance or recovery results from a breakdown of the towing vehicle. Caravans and trailers are defined as a normal towed vehicle commercially constructed for towing by a passenger car with a maximum gross weight of not more than the maximum allowable towing weight specified for a particular vehicle by Hyundai. Caravans or trailers having unusual dimensions, insecure loads, or which are not roadworthy will be recovered only at the discretion of the recovery operator.
  • Recovery is only available where the vehicle is located on a normal metalled road. Recovery from locations requiring specialised equipment or recovery from private land where permission for access to the vehicle cannot be obtained is not covered under the terms of the new vehicle warranty.
  • Assistance will not be available where, in the opinion of Hyundai, excessive call is made upon the service contrary to the spirit of the benefits offered, or where a lack of maintenance results in the breakdown of the vehicle.
  • Assistance will not be available where the vehicle is unattended, in an unroadworthy condition, or the lack of a serviceable spare wheel prevents assistance being effected.
  • In the event of the nature of the breakdown preventing the vehicle from being repaired by the Roadside Assistance service, recovery of the vehicle, (including the driver, up to five passengers, and any attached trailer or caravan) will be made to the nearest authorised Hyundai dealer, or onward destination at the discretion of the recovery operator.
  • Parts or consumables which are not covered under the terms of the one year Roadside Assistance Programme e.g. fuel, spare keys, etc., but which are required to effect repairs will be charged to the vehicle user.

The Roadside Assistance Programme package is only offered on passenger vehicles for non-commercial use and is not available on vehicles used for hire or reward or commercial purposes.

In the event of a breakdown (not accident) where the vehicle has been recovered to an authorised Hyundai dealer and cannot be repaired immediately, the Roadside Assistance provider, on request from the customer, will advise on travel arrangements.

Every new Hyundai has been protected against corrosion using body preservatives. This treatment, combined with regular inspections under the anti perforation programme, allows us to offer the benefits of a 10 year warranty against inside to outside perforation, on i800 and iLoad or a 12 year warranty on all other models.

Warranty period

Subject to the terms and conditions set out in this programme, Hyundai warrant the vehicle against rusting through of the bodywork structure or body panels from the internal surface through to the outside in such a way that the bodywork structure or outer surface of the body panels are affected. This is warranted for a period of either ten years from the date of first registration of the vehicle for i800 and iLoad or 12 years for all other models. Anti Perforation Warranty covers all bodywork and body panels from the bottom of the window line downwards.

Claims procedure

The warranty booklet must be presented to an authorised Hyundai Dealer as soon as the first sign of rust appears. Hyundai will not be liable for any additional rust damage caused by the failure of the vehicle owner to present the vehicle to an authorised Hyundai Dealer as soon as the first signs of rust are noticed.

Body repairs and replacements

In the event of any part of the bodywork covered by this warranty being replaced, repaired or modified, those parts must be re-treated by an authorised Hyundai Dealer, as the Dealer shall deem appropriate, such replacement, repair or modification being at the cost of the vehicle owner. In the case of a repair or replacement under the terms and conditions of this warranty Hyundai will pay the cost of such re-treatment. Failure to treat such parts of the vehicle will invalidate the warranty in respect of the components affected by such replacement, repair or modification.

Limitations and exclusions

The liability of Hyundai under this warranty shall be limited to:

  • The repair or replacement of parts affected by rust as deemed necessary by Hyundai which shall be carried out by a repairer approved by Hyundai.
  • The cost of re-treatment of such replaced or repaired parts. The maximum liability of Hyundai shall not exceed two thirds of the trade value of the vehicle at the date of the claim, as specified in Glass’s Guide (or, if out of publication, a comparable guide as selected by Hyundai for the same make, model, age and similar condition and mileage but without rust damage). In the event of payment of the maximum claim amount this warranty shall become null and void. In no event shall Hyundai be liable for any consequential loss howsoever caused.
    This warranty is not applicable to:
  • Any vehicle used for motor sport competition (including racing, rallying, trials and pace making) or subjected to abnormal conditions.
  • Rust damage to vehicles used for transporting goods which may speed up corrosion such as acids, salt, chemicals or other corrosive agents.
  • Any damage to mechanical components, the exhaust system, fuel tank, or brightwork parts of the vehicle.
  • Any damage caused by the inward penetration of rust through the paintwork of the vehicle or external rust.

Please note: Extensive damage can result from unattended blemishes caused by abrasions, stone chips, etc. It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to ensure that such blemishes or damage are attended to with the minimum of delay, as any resultant damage is not covered by this vehicle warranty.

Maintenance recommendations

Regular care and maintenance will enhance the appearance of the vehicle, extend the life of the bodywork and is essential for ensuring the continued effectiveness of the protection against corrosion.
